Senior Mobile Software Engineer (iOS & Android)
Location: Philadelphia/Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Will Report To: Software CTO (Chief Technical Officer)
Cogwear is seeking a Senior Mobile Software Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of our high-precision physiological monitoring platform. You will be responsible for a sophisticated Kotlin-based Android application that interfaces with clinical-grade EEG headbands via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and USB Serial. A critical component of this role includes porting existing Android functionality to a new iOS application and expanding our AWS cloud integration to support large-scale telemetry pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Real-Time Data Acquisition: Maintain and optimize the acquisition of raw EEG and IMU data at a precise time-stamping and synchronization.
Hardware Connectivity: Develop robust communication protocols for BLE (GATT) and USB Serial devices, including automatic reconnection handling and background data collection.
Security & Compliance: Implement medical-grade security controls, including AES-256 data-at-rest encryption via Android Keystore/iOS Secure Enclave, secure session management, and HIPAA-compliant audit logging.
Cloud Integration: Expand our cloud-native deployment using AWS Amplify, specifically utilizing Cognito for authentication and S3 for raw data storage.
Signal Processing & Visualization: Implement digital signal processing (DSP) filters (Bandpass, Notch) using custom and standard libraries and visualize real-time waveforms using MPAndroidChart.
Data Integrity: Design "offline-first" recovery systems, including local data queueing and partial upload recovery to prevent data loss during connectivity drops.
Regulatory Documentation:Collaborate on FDA-ready build artifacts and integrate requirements tracking between Jira and Quality Management Systems.
